• Residents must request a voucher in advance and present the voucher onsite (either printed or digital copy). Only 32 vouchers are issued each month and are on a first-come, first-serve basis during normal Town of Queen Creek business hours.
  • Disposal of HHW at the facility shall not exceed seventy pounds per vehicle.
  • There is a ten gallon limit of any single liquid type dropped off per day. Only five-gallon or smaller containers will be accepted.
  • Residents shall not be permitted to deliver HHW to the facility unless they present a picture ID and a Town-issued voucher.
  • A Town-issued voucher is required prior to taking your HHW to the Gilbert facility.
  • The Town of Gilbert does not accept commercial chemicals, radioactive materials or medical waste.
• Upon arrival, residents will remain in their vehicle while a technician verifies picture ID and Queen Creek Voucher.
• There will be signage directing residents where to go.
• Residents may be required to unload their own items onto a sanitized cart. 
• Bring only acceptable materials.
• Do not mix different materials together.
• Be certain that all product containers are original and labels are legible.
• Tightly seal materials in their containers and transport them to the facility in the trunk or bed of your vehicle.
• Please do not put items in plastic trash bags, Instead, use cardboard boxes.
• Disposal of HHW at the facility shall not exceed seventy (70) pounds per vehicle. Residents shall not be permitted to deliver HHW to the facility unless they present a driver’s license showing a current home address in Queen Creek and a Town issued voucher.

The Town of Gilbert Household Hazardous Waste Facility is located at the South Area Service Center on the northwest corner of Greenfield and Queen Road. The entrance is a half block west of Greenfield off of Queen Creek Road.

Did you know? There's a "swap shop" at Gilbert's Household Hazardous Waste Facility, where many household products — such as cleaners, detergents, weed killers, bug spray, and more — have been dropped off and can be taken home free of charge. Often, items are brand new and never opened.

Additionally, five-gallon buckets of recycled latex paint are available to Town residents free of charge. The paint comes in light brown (tan) or gray, and residents are limited to 25 gallons when there is a high demand for recycled paint.

All swap shop items are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

There are a variety of alternatives to common household hazardous wastes that you can make at home!

As with other products used in your home, try all remedies in small and inconspicuous areas first and always follow the manufacturer's cleaning recommendations on furniture, fixtures, carpets, and other surfaces.

• All-purpose cleaner: Mix one-quarter cup of vinegar with one gallon of hot water. Keep on hand in spray bottle.
• All-purpose insect spray: Chop or grind one garlic bulb and one small onion, then add one tablespoon cayenne pepper and mix with one quart of water. Let stand one hour, then add one tablespoon liquid hand soap. Store in a covered jar in the refrigerator up to one week. Use as a spray wherever insects are causing a problem.
• Abrasive cleaner: Mix equal parts of salt and baking soda. Scrub with mixture and wet sponge. Rinse with all-purpose cleaner and then with warm water.
• Ant repellent: Place chili powder, talcum powder or powdered chalk at points of entry.
• Bathroom cleaner: Scrub area with baking soda and wet sponge. Rinse with all-purpose cleaner.
• Brass or copper polish: Mix one teaspoon salt, one tablespoon flour, and enough vinegar to make a thick paste. Rub paste on surface and let dry completely. Rinse in warm soapy water, buff with clean soft cloth.
• Drain cleaner: Pour one-quarter cup of baking soda down the drain, then follow with one-half cup of vinegar. After "fizzing" stops, flush with boiling water.
• Floor cleaner: Mix one-half cup of white vinegar with one-half gallon of warm water.
• Furniture polish: Mix together one-half cup of lemon juice with one cup of mineral oil. Rub on wood furniture with soft cloth. A mixture of three cups olive oil and two cups vinegar can also be an effective polish, just rub on wood with a soft cloth.
• Laundry detergent: Try borax or baking soda. Add a few drops of vinegar to keep colors bright.
• Oven cleaner: Scour with baking soda and water. To prevent grease buildup, always clean spills as soon as the oven cools down.
• Pet stain cleaner: Mix together one-quarter cup of white vinegar and one quarter cup of liquid soap. Rub into stain and then blot. Rinse with warm water.
• Shower cleaner: Add one cup distilled water, one-half cup vodka, and ten drops of peppermint oil to a spray bottle. Shake, then spray on shower surfaces. Let sit (no need to rinse).
• Silver polish: Put a sheet of aluminum foil in the bottom of the sink and fill with two to three inches of warm water. Add one tablespoon each of salt and baking soda. Place silver in water, touching foil. Soak for one hour. Rinse in soapy water. Buff with soft, dry cloth.
• Sink cleaner: Cut one lemon in half, then coat the lemon in salt. Scrub sink with salt-covered lemon.
• Toilet bowl cleaner:  Add one cup white vinegar and a half teaspoon of tea tree oil to a spray bottle, and shake. Spray the mixture inside the toilet bowl, let sit, then spread a half cup of baking soda around the toilet bowl. Scrub and flush.
• Window and mirror cleaner: Mix together three tablespoons of vinegar and one quart of hot water. Put in spray bottle. Spray on windows and glass. Wipe off with crumpled newspaper or a squeegee.
