Tips for Contacting State Legislators

To e-mail or write your Senator/Representative:

As you can imagine, elected officials get a lot of e-mails and letters. Accordingly, it is important to clearly indicate the subject or bill number of the issue you are writing them about and to be as specific as possible about why you oppose or support the item you are corresponding about. Be sure to include the bill number, along with a statement that you either support or oppose the legislation, in your subject line. 

 

Here is a sample of how you might consider beginning your correspondence:

 

The Honorable [insert name of the Representative or Senator]

House of Representatives/State Senate [select either one as appropriate to who you are addressing]

1700 W. Washington Street

Phoenix, AZ 85007

 

Subject: Bill [insert bill number], oppose/support [select either one as appropriate]

 

Dear Representative/Senator [select the appropriate salutation as appropriate]:

I am asking you to oppose/support [again, select either as appropriate] bill number [insert bill number]. I would like to ask you to do this because…

 

To contact your Senator/Representative by phone: 

When contacting Legislators, you may reach their assistants who can relay your information onto the elected official. Before calling, make sure you have the bill number, if applicable.  State your name, address, and whether you oppose or support the bill. Try to be as specific as possible about the issue. If you would like a return call, indicate so in your message.

There are two legislative districts within the Town limits of Queen Creek. A majority of the Town falls within Legislative District 12, and a small portion of the Town's limits within Pinal County fall within Legislative District 16. Both district's current legislators are listed below.
