Home MenuCommunity Emergency Response Team (CERT)
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a program that helps better prepare volunteers to respond to emergency situations in the community. As a part of President George Bush’s community-based initiative to engage citizens in homeland security and preparedness, CERT educates volunteers to give critical support to first responders, provide immediate assistance to victims, and organize volunteers at a disaster site.
The CERT program is a 20-hour course given to volunteers over a four-week period. Training sessions include disaster preparedness, disaster fire suppression, basic disaster medical operations, light search and rescue, and team operations.
The course will be taught by a team of two trained first-responders. The trainers are required to complete the CERT Train-the-Trainer course conducted by the Arizona Department of Emergency Management.
The Town typically conducts one CERT training class per year. Class size is limited to 25 participants and are for Town of Queen Creek residents only including Encanterra, Ironwood Crossing, and residents in the Queen Creek County Island Fire District. The Town reserves the right to organize a class into appropriate teams. For example, if a group of volunteers from the same neighborhood register for the program, they will constitute one class.
Please note that the CERT volunteer training will not be offered again until early 2026.
