A recap of what your Town Council has been up to during the month of September.
At the September 5 Town Council Meeting, the Town Council recognized Recreation Manager Erica Perez, who had received the Outstanding Professional of the Year Award from the Arizona Parks and Recreation Association.
Mayor Wheatley, Vice Mayor Martineau and Council Members Benning, McClure, Oliphant and Padilla participated in the Patriot Day Ceremony on September 8, held by the American Legion Queen Creek Duane Ellsworth Chapter. Vice Mayor Martineau provided keynote remarks at the event.
On September 11, Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell held a press conference in Queen Creek. Mayor Wheatley introduced County Attorney Mitchell and participated in the press conference.
Mayor Wheatley and Vice Mayor Martineau attended the Canyon State Academy Local Heroes event on September 11. At this event, several Queen Creek Town staff and public safety officials were honored.
The second Queen Creek Constitution Week Community Concert was held on September 13. Council Member McClure emceed the event. Mayor Wheatley and Council Member Padilla also attended.
Council Members Benning, McClure and Padilla attended the Roots n' Boots Kickoff Dinner on September 14. Council Member Benning provided remarks.
At the September 18 Town Council Meeting, Mayor Wheatley and Council Members recognized Queen Creek Volunteer Coordinator Kim Nishihara, who received the Outstanding Volunteer Administrator Award from the National Association of Volunteer Program Leaders in Government.
Mayor Wheatley and Council Members also recognized Pitt-Hopkins Awareness Day through a proclamation at the September 18 Town Council Meeting.
The Town hosted its second Constitution Week Art & Essay Contest for Students in K-12th grade. Winners of the contest were recognized by Council at the September 18 Meeting. Additionally, their artwork was displayed at Founders' Day on September 21.
Mayor Wheatley, Vice Mayor Martineau and Council Members Benning, Brown, McClure and Oliphant attended the Town's annual Founders' Day event on September 21.
Mayor Wheatley and Council Member Brown attended the groundbreaking for the Queen Creek Homewood Suites on September 28. Mayor Wheatley provided remarks.
