  • Hosting more than 215 days of events at Horseshoe Park & Equestrian Centre, which brought out tens of thousands of spectators and participants;

In addition to announcing Spirit Airlines new service to Dallas Fort Worth, Las Vegas, and continuing service to 28 other destinations, Allegiant announced new nonstop service to Minot, North Dakota; Appleton, Wisconsin; Duluth, Minnesota; Las Vegas, Nevada; and San Francisco-Oakland, California.

The new announcements bring the total number of cities served with nonstop service from Gateway to 33. Combine continuing service opportunities and travelers can fly to over 60 destinations from Gateway Airport.

In preparation for the increase in passenger service, Gateway broke ground on Phase II of the Terminal Expansion project (additional 30,000 square feet and two gates) and completed the 2,700-space Ray Road parking lot. The Phoenix gift shop, Paradise Bakery & Café, and Copper Plate – an American Grill, joined Arizona Highways gift shop and Flightline Market in the newly opened Phase I of the Terminal.

Other significant development projects in 2011 include:

  • South area drainage, phases I and II. Total estimated cost is $3 million.
