The Maricopa County Department of Transportation’s (MCDOT) RightRoads Program in partnership with the Town of Queen Creek is conducting a public open house to gather community input on 70% design plans for the future Riggs Road Widening and Drainage Improvement Project. This project will match the new four-lane Riggs Road Bridge currently under construction and widen the existing two-lane roadway between Hawes Road and Ellsworth Road to a five-lane roadway (two travel lanes in each direction with a continuous center left-turn lane).
Improvements at the Hawes Road intersection will include the installation of a right-turn-only lane on westbound Riggs Road for northbound travel onto Hawes Road, the installation of a right-turn-only lane on southbound Hawes Road for westbound travel onto Riggs Road, the installation of left-turn-only lanes on Hawes Road for east/west travel on Riggs Road and infrastructure for a future traffic signal. The project also includes bike lanes, curb, gutter and storm drain.
Construction is currently scheduled to start in Fall/Winter 2012. Please stop by anytime between 5 and 7 p.m. to speak with MCDOT project team members.
