Public Open House for Sossaman Road Drainage Improvements

Sossaman and Cloud Retention Basin and Storm Drain

Design Features Include:
120,519 cubic yard Retention Basin, improved drainage channel, 8400 lineal feet of 48” storm drain pipe, Manholes, Town of Queen Creek Water pipe relocations, Rancho Jardines irrigation pipe relocations, box culverts, and miscellaneous concrete drainage structures.

Regional Cooperation:
This project is funded through a partnership with the Town of Queen Creek and Maricopa County Flood Control District for the design and construction of this project.

Background:
During rain events there is a significant amount of water flow from the watershed South of Riggs Road along the Sossaman Road corridor in Maricopa County. The Sossaman Road drainage project will channel those water flows to the Sonoqui Wash North of Chandler Heights Road. A retention Basin will be constructed at a future Town park site at Cloud and Sossaman to take overflow runoff during major rain events.

Project Timeline: Project is scheduled to start construction April 2011 and completion is scheduled for August 2011.

Public Open House: The Town of Queen Creek encourages public participation in this project. Display boards and construction plans will be available and Town representatives will be on hand to provide information and take your input. Reasonable accommodations may be made available for people with disabilities with a minimum 72-hour notice.
