The Queen Creek Author's Association is a critique and networking association open to writers of all genres and experience levels. If you wish to participate in the critique portion of these meetings, bring a 1-2 page selection on which you have a specific desire for feedback.
When bringing a piece for critique, let others know if there are any specific areas (pacing, dialogue, character development, grammar, etc...) on which you want feedback. Be prepared to accept both praise and criticism, though it is perfectly acceptable to open a dialogue about the selection and critiques. Many authors find it helpful to understand why their audience has certain opinions about a selection. When critiquing others' works, please be polite, able to explain your opinions, and understand that the author is the final authority on his or her work.
We will also discuss ways to prep for the upcoming workshop on short stories with Gini Koch, author of more than a dozen books, including the Touched by an Alien series at the Maricopa County Library District's Queen Creek Branch Library.
